Tarra Chong

Tarra Chong is the Head of Brand and Marketing at Posse, a label that’s become beloved for its timeless yet playful pieces. With her effortless style and thoughtful approach to fashion, Tarra is the perfect embodiment of the Posse spirit.

TYW: How long have you been working with POSSE, and what first led you to the brand?

Tarra: I joined POSSE just over six months ago as Head of Brand and Marketing. What initially drew me to the brand was a strong alignment in values and vision, a shared ambition to thoughtfully evolve POSSE into a leading contemporary fashion label, underpinned by creativity, purpose, and a strategic focus on driving awareness and growth. I saw a clear opportunity to amplify the brand’s presence both globally and within the local Australian market, leveraging its unique aesthetic and loyal community to build long-term brand equity and commercial success.

TYW: How did your career in fashion begin?

Tarra: It all started with a family holiday to Thailand when I was 13, where we met a Fashion Editor from VOGUE. She quickly became a major inspiration to me. From then on, I was laser-focused. As soon as I was legally allowed to intern, I began working in fashion magazines, and that was the beginning of everything.

TYW: How would you describe your personal style in three words?

Tarra: Considered, comfortable, and playful.

TYW: Has your relationship with clothes evolved over the years, and if so, in what ways?

Tarra: Absolutely. Looking back at photos of me in chunky platforms and bodycon dresses feels like a completely different version of myself. Since having two kids, my body and my needs have changed. I still love getting dressed up for events or work, but my daily priority is comfort and practicality. Machine-washable pieces are a must while I’m juggling life with two under four.

TYW: What’s your go-to piece from POSSE’s latest collection?

Tarra: The newly launched Pearl Pants in white — they’re just so fun yet have a sense of timeless nostalgia.

I also can’t wait for the Harlan Jacket to launch in black; it’s the ultimate layer for spring and a classic I will keep in my wardrobe for years to come.

TYW: If someone was building their wardrobe from scratch, what five pieces would you recommend they start with?

Tarra:

  • A timeless black blazer
  • The perfect blue wash denim jeans that fit you best
  • A relaxed fit, white button-down shirt
  • The best quality, fit and feel, white t-shirt
  • A beautiful pair of black ballet flats — the ones you can wear everywhere and complement all outfits

TYW: What’s one thing you always invest in, and one thing you’re happy to save on?

Tarra:
Invest: My skin and wellbeing; facials, massages, skincare and supplements. Taking care of my skin from the inside out has always been a priority, especially as I aim to age naturally.
Save: Trend-led accessories. I love finding fun or seasonal pieces at a lower price point and mixing them in with my staples.

TYW: Three beauty products you can’t live without?

Tarra:

  • Rationale Beautiful Skin Superfluid SPF30
  • Merit Solo Shadow in Mid Century (a perfect warm brown that I use everyday on my eyes, cheeks and a little on the tip of my nose for that slightly sunkissed look)
  • A good eyebrow brush — never underestimate the power of a brushed-up brow!
