TYW: Are there any makeup brands or products you swear by when doing your work? What makes them your go-to?
Filomena: I’ve done so many interviews, and I always say Chanel Baume Essentiel. It’s still at the top of my list.
I love the healthy, humid luminosity it gives the skin — it’s so glorious. Chanel Beauty in general is at the top of my list, of course.
Traditional pencil lip liners come next. I can create a full look on the go with just lip liners if I need to.
Right now, I’m obsessed with the It’s All Fluff lip blending tool — it has a bouncy synthetic tip that lets you blur lip colour for a natural effect.
In terms of brands, I really love what Merit Beauty is doing. It really speaks to the modern woman and aligns with my personal aesthetic.
TYW: What does beauty mean to you?
Filomena: To me, it’s expression, transformation, joy, individuality, precision — and imperfection.
TYW: Do you ever let anyone else do your makeup, or do you prefer to handle it yourself?
Filomena: I did my own makeup when I got married. As for letting someone else do it — the opportunity just hasn’t presented itself! To be honest, I prefer to handle it myself. I even cut my own hair.
That said, I’m not totally closed off to the idea.
TYW: What’s your number one beauty tip?
Filomena: Prioritise your skincare.
